Visit to Mai Po Marshes |
||
A group of 36 students visited Mai Po Marshes organized by the Cross-curricular Programme Team during the post-exam activity period. We have deepened our understanding on ecology of different habitats such as Mangroves, Kei wais and fish ponds as well as the great biodiversity in Mai Po. This visit offers a valuable opportunity for students to learn in the environment and realize the importance of wetland conservation. During the four-hour guided visit, students investigated how mangroves are adapted to peculiar life in tidal estuaries by observing and recording their morphology e.g. leaves, fruits and roots. Along the trail, the education officer explained how to identify different species of migratory birds and how the wetland supports the animals and plants in Mai Po. We also had a chance to go to the Inner Deep Bay through the Boardwalk and watch birds in Mai Po bird watching hides. |
