On the 21st October, 2008 S6 Business Studies students visited the Lamma Power Station of Hong Kong Electric Company Limited. The representative from the company first gave students a brief introduction of the company and then explained the operations of the plant with a scaled model. Students learnt about how the company managed its resources, responded to environmental issues and reduced cost. After the briefing, the students also had a tour to the wind turbine and learnt about its operation. In general, the technology and facilities in the power plant impressed visitors a lot. All the students agreed that the site visit was attractive.

On 31st October, 2008 Business Studies students visited Tao Heung Museum of Food Culture. From the visit, besides learning about food culture in different countries, students also learnt more about a restaurant business. After the visit they knew more about how a restaurant chain was set up, how it built up its brand name as well as how it designed and promoted its products. Students were particularly impressed by the company’s central food processing unit, which helped the firm to lower its production cost. All S7 students agreed that the visit enabled them to understand more about a firm’s marketing strategy.
